A multi-stemmed shrub for wetlands and moist woodlands, with paired yellow small trumpet flowers in an oval perfoliate bract. As the berries ripen to deep black this bract turns bright red, for all the world like a pair of ruby red lips. Flowers in Spring. Likes sun to partial shade. Soil: Moist to Wet.
